mr. henson has every right to speak to the press. the judge's consideration was to other members of the public. >> he made the decision to say what he said. you didn't make him say it. the deal is that sometimes when you say things that people can use against you, it was their comments by the prosecutors as to what they said wasn't unfair because it was
said. >> reporter: you may remember that henson's co-defendant paul short got 30 days of home detention. julius henson now sentenced to 60 days in jail, double the punishment and more severe. he will be incarcerated to the department of corrections e he's on -- he's on his way there. he's locked up here and will have to serve one year of probation at which the judge said at no point will he be allowed to participate in any election activities. we'll have an update coming up tonight at 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00. >> thank you very much. we will have much more on henson's sentencing coming up on eyewitness news today at 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00. the other story we're following this noon. lighter and brighter news. the ships are coming in to help celebrate the stair spangled celebration. it's to be a major event, 200 years in the making, showcasing this city's roll in u.s.
history. wjz is live at the inner harbor where some of the ships will be tieing up. here is jessica cartel with more on the excitement. >> reporter: good afternoon. we're been joking this is a party that's been planned for 200 years. don, your ship has officially come in. this one from canada. it marks the official start to celebration. >> the arrival of a canadian navel fleet marks the beginning. >> we're going to have arrives starting as early as 8 o'clock in the morning going into the afternoon. >> the bicentennial of the a war of 1812 -- the war of 1812, 40 tall ships and naval vessels will sail?. -- sail in. intlsz to observe not -- >> to not observe the start of
the war, but the century of peace. it's two centuries of peace. >> visitors can tour the ships at the inner harbor, fells point and north locus point through out the week. >> reporter: we're back live in fells point. we're going to show you from chopper 13 a look at the brazilian ship as it makes its way into the inner harbor. we're told it might be spain. from my point i can't tell. don, you might have a better idea. the one behind me i can tell you is a canadian ship. the photographer -- scott and i are going to be getter on the mexican navy fleet. we will bring worry the latest at 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00 and we are so excited to be at tv hill. >> >> have a great trip.
>> stay with wjz 13 for continuing coverage. take a look outside. we are looking down at the big ships as they come in. that's one of the tallest ships coming in. all day long we've been watching the steel ships come in, the warships and military ships coming in. a beautiful sight no matter what angle. we have complete weather coverage too. marty bass is in the out back and tim williams is in the weather center. good afternoon. you know, not only are the sailing gods looking down on them for weather, we have a nice breeze to start bringing them in. if they're coming in on sail or with sails up -- how do you call it? >> under sail. that's it. >> if they're coming in under
sail, the weather is cooperating. they got rain moved out of here yesterday. now we e are starting to look at the tallies -- now we are starting to look at the rain tallies. it's impressive and it happened one day ahead of the ships coming in. 3.41 inches in bel air, tv hill just over an inch of rain. we had just around 3 quarters of an inch of rain in annapolis. westminster just under 1 inch. a lot of rain moved in. the winds are if picking up just a little bit. we're looking at 75 at wbi, just -- bwi, just two degrees above yesterday. how is that playing out into the first full day of celebration and beyond? sending it out to marty bass. >> reporter: the weather is going to be super through the entire celebration period. let's go ahead and take a look
at a graphic we have for you. fact of the matter is this, that big dome of great lakes high pressure is now running the show, breezy right now. we'll lose the winds but it's going to be a dry and very pleasant week's end through the weekend because of that high. we shut the heat off down to the south, southeast and southwest. once again, you can see with the colors that cool pool of air that's going to define our weather over the next five days. this day we're going to have temperatures, you know, pretty much hanging in the upper 70s. we don't see a temperature larger than 82 as we move through the weekend. i want you to think about something as you're looking at these beautiful shots at the beginning of celebration. 200 years ago when key witnessd the bombardment the weather terrible. 200 years later the
weather is going to be 180 degrees difference. what a difference a couple of hundred years does make. tim williams is going to expand on this beautiful out look coming up shortly, during our first warning weather segment. now we're going to throw it back inside. >> thank you. it's been another day of graphic testimony in the sex abuse trial of jerry sandusky. today the father of one of the prosecutions key witnesses takes the stand. >> the father of former penn state assistant coach, mike mcquery was the first witness on the stand. he was the first person his son says he called after seeing jerry sandusky with a young boy in a campus shower. john mcquery described the call in court. he said he asked his son what's the matter and his son replied in a shaken state, i saw a coach downstairs in a shower.
i saw coach sandusky in the shower with a young boy. the father told him to report what happened to his penn state boss, coach jo paterno. no one called 911. the defense asked why not. the father suggested there was no immediate danger, the incident was already over. >> mike mcquery told jurors the same story. he is suing the university. legal experts say his testimony would be extremely damaging to sandusky. >> he doesn't want to be here. you could tell he didn't want to be here. he doesn't have anything to gain from this. sometimes the reluctant witnesses can be the most compelling. >> a third person, victim 10, took the stand on wednesday. he said he sometimes wrestled with sandusky many his basements then -- in his basement then the former coach would pull off his shorts and make give him oral sex and make him do it to. one
witness testified sandusky threatened him saying if you tell anyone you'll never see your family again. then he apologized telling the boy he loved him. >> sandusky continues to deny all the charges against him. his defense suggests that sandusky accusers are in this for the money and hope to profit down the road with civil lawsuits. jp morgan chase ceo jamie diamond will resign today. ron matsz is lye in the -- ron matz is live with the latest on this. >> reporter: today diamond testifying before the senate banking committee. the ceo claims tradeers in the bank's london unit where the massive loss happened did not understand what they were doing. it took part in a strategy known as hedging. diamond will be explaining that the strategy backfired, increasing risk and leading to the major losses.
don, back to you. >> thank you. outside of congress there are five different investigations into the trading losses. closer to home. police in baltimore county are asking for your help in finding a killer. last night a 22-year-old was found dead in his car in the parkville area. detectives say he was shot multiple times. so far no arrests have been made. anyone with information is urninged to call -- urged to call about baltimore -- baltimore county police. a $100 million construction project is under way at bwi marshall. the airport is widing course c -- widening concourse c. it will allow passengers to move through the busiest concourses without going through security again and again. it is expected to be completed this up isser.

another live look at the celebration from sky chopper 13. it is sunny and 75, also pretty breezy. you'll be able to tell that when the sailboats come through. the complete forecast is still coming up. some breaking news happening in buffalo, new york. a hospital is on lock down as police search for a man following the deadly shooting there. the actually shooting happened around 8:00 this morning. police say a woman is dead right there on the hospital grounds. the shooterer is still on the -- the shooter is still on the lose. nobody is allowing anyone or out of the hospital.
incoming patients are being sent somewhere else the man suspected of killing three people at auburn university is in jail. a manhunt was launched for him after the shooting etch he's accuse -- shooting. he's accused of shooting three people, two of which were former auburn football players. he faces capital murder and more assault charges. it's getting down to the wire for nick wallenda's high wire walk over niagra falls. last night a helicopter pulled the cable across the top of the falls. this friday he will attempt to walk across niagra falls on that cable. you must remember that he walked across a high wire above the inner harbor here back in may. still ahead on eyewitness

mchenry. it's a beautiful day for anyone taking part in the celebration. ships are coming in under sail. the wind are a nice brisk wind. i know they're coming in specifically with the motors going. they are definitely getting some help with the wind. 75 right now is the temperature, 77 in ocean stay, 65 oakland. every everyone -- everyone mt. mid 7 -- in the 70s around the metro area. this is bringing in a nice crisp wind. not a lot of humidity. dew points are going to be low for the next few days as a result. low pressure that brought us a good bit of rain is starting to push offshore. the front is pushing it all out. clouds are going together breaking here. with the -- are going to be braking here. with the lower levels of moisture in the atmosphere we're going to see bluer and bluer skies. it's going to be a pleasant forecast heading into the next few days
